Our Fall Home

I had such a crazy start to Fall and the weather was SO HOT this year, that it took longer than normal to get the fall decorations out and set up. But it's always fun to change up the look of the house.

I love to make my front porch the most inviting I can, as it's the first thing guests see as they come to my house. Even if it's just someone dropping a package off, I hope it brings a smile to their face.

And I'm constantly changing / moving / rearranging things as I come across something I like or see someone else's ideas.

The buffet in the formal dining room.

This is typically where our mail typically gets tossed on the kitchen counter. I'm always trying to find a way to keep it clean and clear of the clutter. It's hard but I thought putting up some decor might help.

(P.S. -- it doesn't, sigh)

Getting the Fall decor up and out gave me the perfect opportunity to pair down the clutter on the shelves in the formal living room. I keep trying to remove more and more and I'm feeling better about it the more I remove.
I try and tuck a few pumpkins and fall colored items here and there without going too crazy.

Like I said, I'm constantly adding and changing the look -- did you notice?

Jason and I had the pleasure of a couple big trips this summer. The first being a cruise to Mexico, where we got this beautiful bowl with sea turtles (it's hard to see them etched in the bowl) that just happened to be our living room colors.

The other trip was to Europe and this picture and bowl will always remind us of the amazing time we had in Prague. I love being able to display these works of art and treasures to our memories.

This is the other side of the fireplace and it took me quite awhile to get it just right.

Maybe a little too busy but I filled it in a bit.

The addition of a few plants and a bit more decor and I fell in love with my front porch.

These planters sit on each side of our garage door. I love pulling up to it and having a bit of decor.

I LOVED this decoration idea I found on the Home Depot website!!

Hee hee hee - I found this magnet on a website and just had to get it.
It reads:
We love our vacuum cleaner
Our pests are under control
We know who we are voting for
So unless you have thin mints or a package
From Amazon,
Please don't knock

I propped it up right by the doorbell.

Of course, having boys, once it got closer to Halloween, we had to add some spooky decor.

I somehow never managed to get a photo of the skeleton on the front lawn but I got the witches feet as she dove into the bushes!!

 And the puppy skeleton.

I hope you enjoyed touring our Fall and Halloween home!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
