Strangest Start To The School Year

This has been the strangest start to the new school year for me ever...

Jason and I left town on the second day of school for a 10 day European trip (I'm waiting for him to send me all his pictures before I share our trip with y'all) and then I missed another 10 days with Ethan (details below).

So, in the meantime, here are the pictures of life between our return and now...

Right before we left for Europe, we had some new neighbors move in a couple houses up from us that had a little boy right around our kids age! Finally! While we were gone, our kids became fast friends so since we've been home there has been a lot of this happening again - kids filling up the cul-de-sac playing. This is exactly why we bought this house.

We brought back a few treasures for the boys from Europe, including this little soldiers from a castle on our way into it...

And these crossbows from our walk down the hill from the castle back to our bus back to the hotel.

 The boys LOVED them!

We were traveling home on Bandit's birthday (August 11th) so we celebrated that weekend with a big bone for the big two year old puppy!

It was so big he didn't know what to do with it!!

Wyatt decided to play lacrosse this fall, since he enjoyed wearing his brother's equipment anyway! Now he's got his own.

Unfortunately, just to make my life extra difficult, the don't practice at the same times as each other, except for Friday's. So I'm still having to entertain one or the other during practices.

But there always seems to be something to do for this active kid.

Life got even more hectic for me this school year when I agreed to chair the Health & Wellness committee for the PTA. I'm really excited for this position but it will definitely keep me extra busy.

At the end of August, Ethan got accepted into the Marcus Autism Center's Severe Potty Training Class to help him with his BM's and self awareness. For 10 days I got the boys on the bus and then drove downtown for this class. These were the bags that got us through several of the days of multiple activities while Jason was traveling. It was tricky, but we managed to survive with only one little mishap of dropping a kid off at the wrong lacrosse practice field!

I spent some time diving into this book while Ethan was at his potty class. I haven't finished it yet but it won't be long. Can't wait to learn and share with Ethan's teachers.

Part of the fun of spending six hours downtown was being able to shop at different stores. At one of them I found the Jellybean Challenge. Where you have to try different jellybeans not knowing if it was something yummy (lime) or something gross (grass clippings).

The boys got brave and tried it.

The gross ones were gross! I just smelled the canned dog food jellybean and almost threw up from it.
Whoever came up with this idea has some issues. LOL

Ethan got released from the potty class at Marcus the end of last week and we're continuing at home. He charmed the pants off everyone there and has come a long way. We're not 100% there yet but we are so much better off than when we started and I know we'll get there soon. I'm so proud of him!

Life is starting to get back to normal. We are definitely busier this year with my on the PTA Board, Wyatt and Jack both playing lacrosse, Ethan doing two different therapies and Wyatt also doing Cub Scouts but I know from watching my friends with older kids that these days are fleeting and the best days of our families lives. One day it will be over and we'll look back and miss them.

But I may finally have a chance to sleep!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
