Quick Beach Trip

Our annual waste-of-a-summer-vacation-week, aka, mid-Fall break, came in mid-September, and like the rest of Georgia we high-tailed it to Florida.

The funny thing about our school breaks is that everyone heads south to either the beaches or Disney World. It's almost comical how everyone makes a break for it, but if you lived only a few hours away from the beach, you'd take off too!!

We stayed at our favorite hotel in Miramar Beach, FL -- just outside of Destin and spent four days in the ocean, pool and playing in town.

The boys had the pool to themselves the first night.

The hotel is directly across the street from the beach, with it's own access, so off we marched with all our sand and beach toys!

It took Ethan a bit to warm up to the idea of the ocean, so he did his favorite thing - played under his towel.

 Sand castles got started...

 But the water was calling.

Jack got a skimboard and had a lot of fun learning how to use it.
He got very frustrated too!!

 A happy mommy beach selfie!!

Wyatt had fun with the boogie boards!

 Jason caught a crab.

After getting too much sun in the morning, we dried off, had some lunch and then headed into town to play! Wyatt was dying to play put-put golf.

 Even Ethan had fun!

The next day we were back out at the beach and we couldn't get Ethan out of the water this time. He loved the boogie board and just swimming on his own. What a difference a couple of years make!

When it got too hot and we got too burned, we headed back inside to dry off and head out on another adventure. This time, back to Ft. Pickens, which we had visited on another trip to the beach a couple years back.

 The boys all loved it.

And Ethan especially loved matching up the pictures in the guide book to the actual spot in the Fort.

We headed out the morning of our last day, but not before stopping to let Jason do a little kite boarding. It was fun to finally get to watch him do it -- it has been a new hobby for him since he spends so much time for work in Miami.

If we have to take a week off from school then we might as well make the most of it. Thanks Florida beaches for another good time!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
