Summertime Fun - Beating the Heat

We're starting our second week of summer vacation and have been quite busy! But it never fails, Memorial Day and Ethan fell asleep at dinnertime. This kid has fallen asleep just before dinner at EVERY holiday since Thanksgiving! We kicked off our summer with a BBQ with friends and a trip to the pool. We've actually spent almost every evening at the pool since it's opened due to the heat (we're already in the 90s and mostly the upper 90s!).

Here is Wyatt's first attempt at coloring. He loved it and did really good at first. Then all he wanted to do was eat the crayons. Everything goes in this kid's mouth.

Jack decided he wanted to have a "water stand" instead of a lemonade stand. So he filled the cooler up with water, got a bowl full of ice, a pitcher and some cups, then made a flag to wave down his friends. It was pretty cute!

It's been so hot here lately that the best way for the boys (and by the boys I mean mostly Daddy) to stay cool is to hang out in the basement and take naps! Normally I would protest, as it makes it harder for Wyatt to go to sleep at night, but since we're usually at the pool until 8:30p it works out well.
It was cute to come downstairs and find them all sacked out in different positions! I thought they were being awfully quiet down there.....

We continued with our playing in the dirt this weekend. We added four tomato plants and four green pepper plants in the backyard, next to our strawberry patch. Jack enjoyed helping out.

It was all we could do to keep Wyatt away from the unripe strawberries. We'll never get good ones at this rate...

Wyatt's favorite thing these days is to climb UP the slide (and yes, he can climb all the way up). I need to get better about being the mom of three boys - everything makes me nervous!

Ethan wasn't really in the mood to be involved, but Jack and Wyatt were right in the thick of things.

We then moved in to the front yard to add more color. The morning started off nice and cool but the humidity snuck up on us rather quickly. We have a couple more to plant but I think we'll wait for another cool morning before we do...

We added some delphinium and some Starburst Ice plants.

Then later in the evening, Jack and Daddy planted some watermelon. We're going to start them inside first before moving them out into the garden in back.

Wyatt and Ethan played nicely at first...

But Wyatt quickly got up to no good!

But he found a good way to keep himself cool.

He found Jack's water stand, took a cup, filled it up with water from the cooler and dumped it over his head!

Then Ethan wanted to cool off by playing in the water in the driveway. And Jack had to dump water on himself too - if Wyatt is going to do you know Jack is not far behind!

Clever boys. And since they were already wet, it was a good time to head to the pool so Mommy and Daddy could cool off too!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
