Jack's 5th Birthday Party

I can't believe we are two days away from having a 5 year old! Where did the time go? I guess all I have to do is look around to see...three little boys (or four boys if you count the biggest one) who fill my heart and my world with more happiness than I ever thought imaginable.

We had a Star Wars/Clone Wars themed birthday party this year and it was so much fun!

Jack has such great friends. I'm so thankful that he has developed these great buddies so young. We only had about 5 boys here but it was the perfect amount. And they had so much fun. We had a bouncy out back but with all the fun toys Jason bought for them to play with, they barely used it. Luckily the neighborhood kids were over this evening to play in it with Jack and Ethan!

Above is the Darth Vadar pinata that we filled with candy. Hop them up on sugar and send them home was the plan. Unfortunately, we didn't take into account Ethan. He didn't take a nap and then had juice and cake and was oh-so cranky!!

Below is the big bouncy!

Jason bought Nerf Dart guns for the boys to shoot at each other and I found blow-up/light-up light sabers for them to play with and take home. Needless to say, the 4/5 year old boys had a blast!!

Each kid grabbed a piece of ribbon and pulled - much better than hitting with a stick! Then we had Star Wars cups for the kids to fill up with candy.

It was every man for himself!

Carson and his candy!

Zach and his candy!

Walker and his candy!

Jack's best friend Bryce and his candy!

Ethan head first down the slide (he can now climb up the steps on the side and then make his way down the slide, but Daddy is always out there with him).

Jack and his candy!

Present time!

We got a kick out of Walker's t-shirt!

Jack got lots of Star Wars Legos and then Mommy and Daddy gave him one of his presents, an At-At, which he LOVED!

Wyatt and Ethan were ready for bed by the end of the evening but we had to pry Jack away from his toys....

Jack spent all morning today working on his Star Wars Legos. He started off on his own but I eventually helped out (Jason was off fishing - I mean doing "physical therapy" in his kyak on the lake).

Jack said it was the best birthday ever!

We spent a lovely evening (nice and cool - finally) out back playing in the bouncy before we had to pack it up to return tomorrow.

Great post, Ellen! You sound so happy and your family seems like it's doing great. It was a lot of fun spending time with you guys the last couple weeks - we miss you. But we'll be seeing you again in November.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
