Halloween In ... Seattle????

Before we get into tonight's Halloween festivities, here are a few photos from the days leading up to it. We made cupcakes for our playgroup Halloween party. While I still can't get Jack to try anything new, Ethan LOVED licking off the beaters. While he didn't want to lick the beaters, Jack really enjoyed helping me make the cupcakes and then decorate them. I think he might become a chef -- he LOVES to watch cooking shows on TV! Below is a photo of the boys in their Halloween costumes before we headed out to our party. Jack is a Power Ranger and Ethan is a pirate. I couldn't find the devil costume Jack wore when he was Ethan's age so I found a t-shirt that had a pirate pattern and then popped Jason's pirate hat on him. It didn't stay on long but at least I got a quick photo of him in it! Here is the group of old friends from the playgroup. We've been doing this since Jack was 2 years old. It's fun to see them all grow up and change. Below is t

Halloween Preview

Here are a few Halloween themed photos in preparation for the upcoming holiday. Jack has been in Halloween mode for a week or so now, asking every day if we can go trick or treating tonight. Here are photos of the boys getting their Halloween cards from Nana and Granddad. Jack got to wear his costume to gymnastics tonight and he loved it! The preschool section of the gym was decorated for the holiday and the kids got to walk through a big monster's mouth! Tonight we got "ghosted" by our neighbors. We're not sure which one and Jack thinks it was an actual ghost that dropped the goodie bag off!! It was filled with puzzles, crackers, candy, glow sticks and toothpaste (smart ghost)! These last two photos are of the boys "helping" me to empty the dishwasher. Normally Jack is really good at helping me but he got sidetracked by giving Ethan a couple of bowls to put away, which of course he just wanted to throw around the kitchen. When Jack saw what he was doi

Making New Friends

I've had a busy week meeting new people - friends for the boys and me! Earlie this week we met some neighbors up the street that have four kids, the youngest is 4 and goes to Jack's preschool (different days and class but still a connection!). Jack and the 4 and 6 year old girls played great while I had a chance to get to know the mom a bit better. Then today, we had dinner with a family in the next subdivision that also has a little girl with Down syndrome. They have a son who is a day older than Jack (and they played great!), the middle girl is Ethan's age, who turned 2 in July, and a 5 month old baby. Again, it was great to get to know another family going through what we're going through (we share two of the same therapists) with kids the same age. I feel like this has been a very productive week! These are just some photos of the kids playing out on the deck earlier this week. These two are almost inseparable! Ethan also had a busy week, crawling up the stai

A Date with Two Cute Boys, a Pumpkin and a Knife!

Jack picked out his pumpkin yesterday so we sat out in the hot sunshine to carve it! Jack didn't like the mushy pumpkin goo but Ethan had the best time playing with it and trying to eat it. I scooped it into the bowl and Ethan scooped it out! Jack drew on the pumpkin what he wanted me to carve out. I think we have a pumpkin with four eyes in front and two in back, a nose between the eyes and a mouth that looks like another eye! Jack had a hard time carrying the pumpkin so he got smart and decided to put it in the back of his dump truck and drive it out to the front porch. Then I snapped few photos of what our front porch looks like. In some Ethan news, during his physical therapy on Tuesday, we decided to try to get him to climb the stairs, since he's been crawling over to them and looking up them longingly. In the past he'd always climb up one and then sit there. Well, this time, all on his own, he climbed up the stairs TWICE! I was shocked and so happy. But agai
