Life Around The House

We've been out on a mid-winter break this past week but before we went into it we had lots going on. Jack had his first school project due on the 13th, a diorama of the Atlantic Ocean.  He really enjoyed doing the research, gathering the supplies and then putting it all together.  He was very proud of the final product!!  My kids just cannot seem to sit on our couch the correct way - they love to lay and sleep on top of our under the cushions!  Ethan has been learning a lot lately with his ipad - lots of spelling and talking coming out of him.  Bandit, enjoying the sun, is getting so big. These silly boys of mine!  Say cheese!  But, of course, their favorite thing to do is play with Daddy and all his games!  Which always seem to take over my tables and counter.  But those smiles make it worth it!  Jack has become quite the lacrosse player and he's started teaching Wyatt, who hopes to start playing himself

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day. It was fun this year to help the boys get their Valentine's ready for their class parties. Here is Wyatt signing his name to all his cards.  Not too bad for 4 years old.  Next it was Jack's turn.  We also had Teacher Appreciation this past week so it's been crazy getting Valentine's ready as well as different things for the teachers everyday (along with a school project that Jack had to turn in). We used to have this week towards the end of the school year and I much preferred it.  Too much going on this week and everything is expensive because they bump up the prices for the holiday.  Oh well...  I did have fun with these Thanks a "latte" cups, filled with a Starbucks gift card and some extra goodies.  Wyatt did much better at his class party -- still didn't sit at the table with his friends and hung out with me, but he warmed up much faster and seemed to have more fun.

Home Sweet Valentine Home

Since we are about a week away from Valentine's Day, I thought it was time to decorate for the holiday. While I am not a big fan of the day for me personally, I do enjoy decorating and celebrating with the kids.   Here I made a little change to the entry way and I have to say, the EASIEST way to change up a room or area for a special day is with cute little burlap banners. I've managed to collect one for every holiday or season it seems.  It used to be that I would decorate every part of the house but these days, with three very active and involved kids, I've started to keep it simple by mainly decorating our formal dining room and then bits and pieces in the rooms we spend the most time in.  I came across taller birds on sale at Michael's the other day and scooped up two for my dining room pillar holders. They are two different colors but both blue and both fit the color theme.  Bonus that you can see it better than the little ones I had there befor

Like Father, Like Son

 * WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTOS BELOW * We had quite the excitement last night but for once Jason was home when a child had to be taken to the hospital. The boys were horsing around when all of a sudden a blood curdling scream came out of Wyatt who ran into the room holding the back of his head and crying - blood EVERYWHERE. Turns out he somehow hit the back of his head on the side table in the living room. We were able to get the bleeding to stop but it was a very deep wound and a big bump was forming, so off Jason and Wyatt went to the doctor.  Why do these things always happen at night???  Turns out he needed three staples but everything else checked out fine. So they bundled him up to keep him from moving.  He told Daddy that he felt like a burrito! Once the initial shock of the accident wore off he was in high spirits - as you can tell from this photo - much like when he split his chin open...I'm sensing a pattern here.  He received three st

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several.  I bought a hanging scar
