A Halloween Visit From Granny

We haven't had Jason's mom out for a visit in several years so we were extra excited when she came over Halloween. It's always extra special for the boys to celebrate with extended family.  We had some really nice weather while she was in town (at least the first part of it) so we celebrated with a fire out in the backyard. The boys were excited to roast marshmallows and have s'mores!  Nana and Granddad are always really good about sending cards for the boys. However, we are not very good about opening them in a timely manner.  This year I tried to offer both candy and small toys as our treats.  Our traditional dinner has become Mummy Dogs -- hot dogs wrapped up in crescent rolls. This year both Jack and Wyatt helped me make them.  Then it was time to get into costumes and head out.  Jack was a werewolf while Wyatt and Ethan were the same characters as last year, a Power Ranger and Blue the dog from Blue's Clues.  Daddy and Granny took th

Our Newest Family Member

Jack has been asking for a dog for several months but with the crazy summer we had traveling and then starting the potty training with Ethan I was not ready to add more craziness to the mix. This past October I finally commented a few weeks ago that I was ready to start looking -- thinking we could start visiting the animal pound and looking at dogs, waiting for the perfect one to find us.  Well, not more than four hours after I made the comment to Jason that I was ready to start looking/talking about adding a dog to the family I think Jason had found a local dalmatian breeder and had paid for one. We actually drove out to the breeder to surprise the boys by showing them the new liter we would be picking from but as we drove away (they were a few weeks away from adoption age) Jack was so sad that we decided to turn around and adopt an older puppy instead.  Needless to say, the boys were ha

Boys Being Boys

I found some random photos of the boys that I don't think have been posted yet. We got Wyatt up onto Jack's old bike last weekend to try and get him to start riding with pedals.  But it didn't last long. Even though he is growing out of the little red bike he still enjoys just pushing and coasting as opposed to pedaling. But I'm not surprised, none of our kids ever enjoyed anything with pedals.  Wyatt would much rather paint with Daddy.  I love his little face and that look of concentration.  The final product is not too bad either!!  I try hard not to force the boys to play together too much, so it's always nice to see them getting along. Wyatt would do just about anything Jack does.  Hmmm, too many tablets and devises.  Jason has been collecting these blocks over the past couple of years and the boys have really enjoyed building with them on the floor, but Jason took it to a new level by introducing a dice rolling game that they c
