4th Of July

I hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!! It's our favorite holiday around here so we always go all out with fireworks and a party. And I love to decorate - although I'm finding that less is more these days. Come inside and see...

It can be easy to go "all out" but I have found, after doing that year after year, that a few items placed strategically is nicer.

I focused more on my entryway where people come in...

And in our formal dining room, where we always have the food during our parties.

But, of course, the focus is always on the fireworks.

We start off at dusk, or as close as we can wait until dusk, to start with the daytime ones, like this cute little tank that Wyatt REALLY wanted.

Then on to the colored smoke bombs, that Ethan LOVED running through.

The whole cul-de-sac was filled with neighbors and friends enjoying the show.

A highlight is always the parachutes. The kids love running around collecting them as they fall from the sky.

Just a few of the kids gathered at the start. We knew if we didn't get one at this point, we wouldn't get one at all.

Those parachutes always end up in the trees!!

As the night sets in, out comes the sparklers and the big guns!

There go some of the kids with sparklers while riding their bikes up and down the street.
Happy Birthday America!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Beach Days

I have impressed myself by getting these pictures posted early today by taking advantage of Ethan's nap and then Jack playing with him! Just a quick note to update everyone, today we met with Jack's preschool teacher and saw his classroom. He's very excited to start school, which I JUST now realized is NEXT Tuesday, not the Tuesday after Labor Day. Wow, it will be so strange to have him gone 3 hours, 3 days a week. But Ethan will love the one on one time and I have volunteered to be a class mom for a couple of their class parties. These are photos of our day trip to Wrightsville Beach just outside of Wilmington, NC. I really loved this area and the boys had a great time playing in the sand and water. It was about 100 degrees that day. I love these photos of Jack and Ethan together. You can see how much these boys love each other. I'm going to have to get these framed! Ethan was having a great time pulling up on Daddy and then looking around to see what he was d...
