Spring Break at the Beach, Day One

Whew, what a fantastic spring break vacation we just had. Picture it, two moms, six kids and no dads...in this little slice of heaven above.

Thanks to my friend Kellie for researching and finding this great rental house on the small South Carolina coastal community of Fripp Island.

It was a very long drive to get there but so worth it to pull up to this.

Time to check out the island on the limo golf cart!!

The kids LOVED going for rides on this thing and Kellie and I enjoyed the slow paced feel of this golf cart island. Everything slows down when you have to share the road with a golf cart that can't go very fast!!

This house was so open and roomy. Everyone had plenty of space and no one felt like they were on top of anyone else.

Even the backyard had plenty of room to play games.

Day one is in the books and we're ready to fully relax and recharge.

Beach Days

I have impressed myself by getting these pictures posted early today by taking advantage of Ethan's nap and then Jack playing with him! Just a quick note to update everyone, today we met with Jack's preschool teacher and saw his classroom. He's very excited to start school, which I JUST now realized is NEXT Tuesday, not the Tuesday after Labor Day. Wow, it will be so strange to have him gone 3 hours, 3 days a week. But Ethan will love the one on one time and I have volunteered to be a class mom for a couple of their class parties. These are photos of our day trip to Wrightsville Beach just outside of Wilmington, NC. I really loved this area and the boys had a great time playing in the sand and water. We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring. We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking. See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top. Ethan's Eye Appointment

We had Ethan's first eye appointment this morning to look at his lazy eye. And, as usual, he is proving to be amazing! The doctor gave us some really great news. He said Ethan appears to have a bit of farsightedness but that it's fairly common for this age and he sees no need for glasses. Both of his eyes are healthy on top and bottom and that the lazy / cross-eye is fairly typical for Down's babies. At this point, he sees nothing that needs to be dealt with, as it's not a constant issue and he seems to correct himself pretty quickly. We'll go back at the beginning of October to have his eyes looked at again, unless we see any dramatic changes between now and then. But the doctor seems to think he'll be just fine and it may even be something he grows out of. Jason and I are relieved that there is one more typical Down's issue that we don't have to worry about as of yet! We're looking forward to a fun filled weekend that hopefully included some ...
