Enjoying the Beach

We've been having a lovely time enjoying the beach and the weather. We had a bit of Hurricane Ida come through (outer bands) but only really gave us windy conditions and then rain last night. But it hasn't gotten in our way of enjoying anything!

Yesterday (Tuesday, November 9th) was Nana's birthday so these are the boys giving Nana birthday loves.



Besides doing lots of swimming in the pool (avoiding the beach as we have a rip tide warning for the week), Jack and Nana have been going to the beach while Ethan (and I) nap.

Celebrating Nana's birthday!


Here, Ethan is reading a story to Nana. He loves to read his books, but mostly he loves to turn the pages. I have to read really fast sometimes, he turns the pages so quickly.





Today, after having a lovely swim in the pool (can't keep these boys out of the water), they had karaoke by the pool, so we sat outside our room and enjoyed the music.

Jack and Nana headed back down to the beach to build another sand castle town. This time we added a moat and tried to fill it with water (but we were too far from the shore).

Hopefully in the next few days we can get Ethan down there, as he LOVES to play in the sand.





Tomorrow is supposed to be our coolest day, so we're heading down to the Kennedy Space Center so Jack can enjoy all things space! And then we found out that there is supposed to be another launch next Monday, so fingers crossed that the weather holds and we get to experience another shuttle launch!

 We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Ethan's Eye Appointment

We had Ethan's first eye appointment this morning to look at his lazy eye. And, as usual, he is proving to be amazing! The doctor gave us some really great news. He said Ethan appears to have a bit of farsightedness but that it's fairly common for this age and he sees no need for glasses. Both of his eyes are healthy on top and bottom and that the lazy / cross-eye is fairly typical for Down's babies. At this point, he sees nothing that needs to be dealt with, as it's not a constant issue and he seems to correct himself pretty quickly. We'll go back at the beginning of October to have his eyes looked at again, unless we see any dramatic changes between now and then. But the doctor seems to think he'll be just fine and it may even be something he grows out of. Jason and I are relieved that there is one more typical Down's issue that we don't have to worry about as of yet! We're looking forward to a fun filled weekend that hopefully included some ...
