Ethan and Jack

What an exhausting day! Ethan had a follow up eye appointment in the city this morning and it was a great visit. The doctor no longer sees any crossing of the eyes and says that Ethan doesn't need glasses (a very common trait with Down's babies). He did see some allergies in his eyes, so he gave us a prescription for drops if it starts to bother him (rubs his eyes a lot), which I haven't noticed yet.

After running some errands we made it home with a few hours to get dinner on the table (early) before heading out to a 6pm make-up T-ball game for Jack. What a perfect evening to sit on the grass and watch some ball. It was about 80 degrees with a nice breeze and not a cloud in the sky! Gotta love springtime in Georgia.


Yesterday was another nice 80+ degree day, so we met our friends Lisa and McKenna at the park in their neighborhood. The kids had the best time playing and Lisa and I had a good time catching up with each other.







With a great week of weather ahead of us, hopefully we'll get more time to play outside, although most of our time these days is spent packing and moving.....

Beach Days

I have impressed myself by getting these pictures posted early today by taking advantage of Ethan's nap and then Jack playing with him! Just a quick note to update everyone, today we met with Jack's preschool teacher and saw his classroom. He's very excited to start school, which I JUST now realized is NEXT Tuesday, not the Tuesday after Labor Day. Wow, it will be so strange to have him gone 3 hours, 3 days a week. But Ethan will love the one on one time and I have volunteered to be a class mom for a couple of their class parties.  We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan's Eye Appointment

We had Ethan's first eye appointment this morning to look at his lazy eye. And, as usual, he is proving to be amazing! The doctor gave us some really great news. He said Ethan appears to have a bit of farsightedness but that it's fairly common for this age and he sees no need for glasses. Both of his eyes are healthy on top and bottom and that the lazy / cross-eye is fairly typical for Down's babies. At this point, he sees nothing that needs to be dealt with, as it's not a constant issue and he seems to correct himself pretty quickly. We'll go back at the beginning of October to have his eyes looked at again, unless we see any dramatic changes between now and then. But the doctor seems to think he'll be just fine and it may even be something he grows out of. Jason and I are relieved that there is one more typical Down's issue that we don't have to worry about as of yet! We're looking forward to a fun filled weekend that hopefully included some ...
