Living in Georgia

 I undertook a very big project over these past few weeks, but one I had been wanting to do since we bought this house four years ago.  I painted the master bedroom and part of the bathroom.  Of course it would have been so much easier to do before we moved our massive furniture in here but at the time I didn't know what colors I wanted.  Sometimes you have to live with things that you don't like for awhile until you know what you do like. But I'm so happy with the results and excited to share the photos with you.  Hard to believe that Ethan will start kindergarten in the fall.  I go register him next week but a couple week's ago we met with his pre-k teacher, the special needs kindergarten teacher and all his therapists to discuss Ethan's transition into kindergarten. I won't go into too much detail, as it's a cumbersome event, but we all left happy with how he's doing and what the next step will be.  As you can see from these photos, some days he comes home exhausted from school. While we want Ethan to be included as much as possible in a typical classroom setting, we are realistic in his abilities at this time and I think putting him in a regular classroom at this time would be far too overwhelming for him.  So he'll go into a special needs classroom for kids in kindergarten through 2nd grade.  He will get pulled out for specials (music, PE, media, etc.) with a regular kindergarten class and then he'll also get an extra session with a special needs PE te...

 Last weekend we took full advantage of the one day of good weather to plant some fruit trees and bushes in our further attempt to be more self sufficient.  We have long talked about adding fruit trees to the second tier in our backyard and we finally just bit the bullet and did it!  We started off with three apple trees; Granny Smith (the only apple Jack will eat and my favorite for baking with), Yellow Delicious (must have for cross pollinating and one of Jason's favorites) and a Winesap (I wanted a Pink Lady but they didn't have any in stock so we thought we'd try this variety).  Hard to see the tree planted due to all the background trees but it's there...  Hard at work!  Second tree in.  After planting the third tree we realized we had room for one or two more, so off we went to the nursery to find more!  While we were there we decided that three apple trees should produce more than enough apples so another fruit tree m...

 I hope you've all had a nice Valentine's Day.  Nothing fancy around here, as I'm getting over a bug and Jason is in Miami for work.  But the holiday is mostly for the boys anyway!! I got them some cupcakes and goodies, and I have a caramel apple waiting for me once the little love bugs get into bed.  We had a crazy morning taking Ethan to the doctor then running several errands, so I was extra nice and let Wyatt have a Valentine cupcake after lunch instead of waiting until after dinner.  He was so cute to watch!!  We don't go overboard with gifts but who can resist a new animal friend, a couple of special candies and a balloon?  It's all about the presentation!  Even the simplest of gifts looks bigger and better if dressed up a bit.  Jack had to make his own Valentine card collector box at home for his school card exchange and this is his box with his goodies!!  It's near impossible to get a photo o...
